Review: Knives Out

Marta Cabrera (Ana de Armas) and Benoit Blanc (Daniel Craig) in Knives Out (via. NYTimes)

This is the second time watching this movie but first time reviewing it. I remember the first time I watched this movie I appreciated the twists and turns on this “Whodunnit” genre film. Director and screenwriter for this film Rian Johnson has a lot to be proud of in superbly subverting the genre while driving the audience to a satisfied conclusion.

This is the first time I’ve seen Daniel Craig in a role that is substantially different to his most well known role as James Bond. It was great to see him outside the role of Bond as a full-on southern sleuth. The ensemble that accompanies him also successfully portrays the dysfunctional family that he has to manoeuvre.

Overall a great mystery film that has me excited for more genre films like this to hit the screens. Can’t wait to see Glass Onion and see how Rian can top this again!
